Welcome to The Pewsey Belles.
If you are looking for a dynamic and fun all female choir to join, then come along on a Tuesday evening at 7.30pm!
Based in Pewsey, a small village on the Northern edge of Salisbury Plain, the Pewsey Belles have earned a reputation for the quality of our singing.
- No auditions – just turn up and sing
- New members are welcome to join in September or January
- You do not have to be able to read music
The choir rehearses in Pewsey every Tuesday evening from 7.30pm – 9.00pm, except for school half terms and holidays. We meet in the Wesleyan Hall, behind the Methodist Church, across the road from the Post Office. Just turn up on a Tuesday evening and speak to Jackie, our Director of Music, or one of the team. Your first evening is FREE. From January 2018, our fees will be £4.50 per week, paid in blocks of ten weeks, and from January 2019 will be £5 per week. We anticipate they will then remain at £5 per week for several years to come.
For performances we ask members to learn the songs by heart, except for the Christmas repertoire when we can use music folders.
You don’t need to be able to read music to join the choir and to help you with learning the songs we have copies of all the scores of current music and sung rehearsal tracks for each part for you to sing along with, on this website. These tracks can be downloaded or listened to online and are located in the “MEMBERS” section of the site which has a password for members only. Here are a few seconds of a second soprano harmony part, just to give you an idea of the rehearsal tracks:
We perform regularly at a variety of venues throughout the year and we usually wear our own choice of all-black outfits so you will not need to buy a special costume. we actively encourage members to attend as many of these performances as possible.
The main thing is we have FUN. Singing is so good for you and we hope you will want to join us.
