Now a regular event in the Pewsey Belles calendar, the ladies once again donned several layers of clothing to stand outside singing carols at the Burbage Christmas tree sale.
If you live anywhere near Burbage, Marlborough, this is ‘the’ place to get your Christmas tree and I have it on good authority that people travel quite some distance to secure one of the trees. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the tree sale in Burbage and it was bigger than ever with more stalls and seemingly even more people than before.
The Pewsey Belles sang a selection of carols and Christmas songs for about 45 minutes before retiring to the church hall for much needed warm mulled wine! After a short break the choir then sang again for another 45 minutes to a gathering crowd. As well as a few traditional carols the programme included:
Tomorrow shall be my dancing day
Harold Darke’s in the bleak mid winter
During the second half of the event the ladies were recorded singing Oh Little town of Bethlehem which was subsequently broadcast on BBC Wiltshire.
The Pewsey Belles will be singing again at the Burbage Christmas Tree Sale in 2015.
