BBC Music Day 2016

Last Friday, 3 June 2016, was BBC Music Day. The theme this year was ‘Take it to the Bridge’ with the idea being that choirs from all over the country would sing on, under or beside bridges.

As part of the Wiltshire event, our choirmaster, Jules Addison was asked, by BBC Wiltshire to put together a choir to sing on the Chinese Bridge at Lydiard Park in Swindon.    We sang two songs – Unchained Melody and Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Despite being outside the combined sound of all the choirs was actually quite impressive.  The event was being live broadcast by BBC Wiltshire as we sang and filmed by BBC News for a short feature on BBC Points West that evening.

Choirs involved included:

  • The Pewsey Belles
  • The BlueBelles
  • Cirencester Male Voice Choir
  • Great Western Harmony
  • Blue Notes
  • Swindon Community Choir
  • Great Bedwyn Millennium Choir
  • Malmesbury Community Choir
  • The Shaw Singers
